What crimes happened last year in Coimbatore city?

According to a press release issued by the Coimbatore City Police regarding the number of cases recorded last year:

In Coimbatore city during the year 2025, one case of murder for gain was reported, and the accused in that case have been arrested. Out of 15 robbery (waylaying) cases, 14 were solved; out of 36 house-breaking (daytime) cases, 29 were solved; out of 100 night-time house-breaking cases, 67 were solved; out of 477 theft cases, 305 were solved; and out of 75 other criminal incidents, 70 were solved.

Overall, suspects were arrested in 486 of the total 704 reported cases.

From the accused, property worth ₹8,79,60,390 was recovered, of which items worth ₹7,35,77,550 have been seized.

In 23 murder cases, all 23 accused were arrested.
In 25 attempted murder cases, all 25 accused were arrested.
In 15 rioting cases, all 15 accused were arrested.
In 283 assault cases, 278 accused were arrested and jailed.

For the past two years, in both murder and attempted murder cases, police achieved a 100% arrest rate.

Similarly, punishment has been secured for:

21 accused in murder cases,

1 accused in murder-for-gain,

11 accused in robbery cases,

30 accused in house-breaking cases, and

9 accused in attempted murder cases.

During the past year, 1,927 warrant cases were issued and 1,464 persons were arrested on those warrants.
In sexual offence cases, 4 accused in rape cases, 23 accused in harassment cases, 201 accused under the Women Protection Act, and 58 accused in prostitution-related cases were arrested.

In 16 cases where women complained of harassment by husbands and family members, resolutions were provided. According to the report, 100% of such cases recorded last year have been disposed of.

Last year, 190 POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) cases were registered, and convictions were obtained in 14 cases.

Under the Goondas Act,
70 rowdies,
33 fraudsters,
28 sexual offenders,
64 drug traffickers,
8 cybercrime offenders,
and 13 persons involved in other crimes — a total of 216 persons — were detained and jailed.

A total of 173 A-category and A-plus rowdies, who were considered a nuisance to the public, were banished from Coimbatore city.
