Heavy Rain Likely in Four Tamil Nadu Districts Tomorrow Due to New Low-Pressure Area
Chennai Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rainfall in four Tamil Nadu districts on February 22 due to a newly formed low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal.
The Chennai Meteorological Department has announced that heavy rainfall is likely in four districts of Tamil Nadu tomorrow (February 22) due to a newly formed low-pressure area.
According to the official report, an upper-air cyclonic circulation prevailed yesterday (February 20) over the equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal. As a result, a low-pressure area formed over the same region today (February 21) morning.
As of 8:30 a.m., the system is located over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean. It is expected to move west-northwestwards and may intensify further over the next 24 hours.
Due to this system, light to moderate rainfall is likely at a few places in South Tamil Nadu and at isolated places in North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal today (February 21).
Thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall are likely at isolated places in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Virudhunagar districts.
Tomorrow (February 22), light to moderate rain is expected at a few places in South Tamil Nadu and isolated places in North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at isolated places in Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, and Virudhunagar districts, the department said.
