Industrial Exposure Visit: KV Institute MBA Students at Toyota Kirloskar Motor
MBA students from KV Institute of Management and Information Studies, Coimbatore visited Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd in Bidadi to gain practical insights into automobile manufacturing and the Toyota Production System.
MBA students from KV Institute of Management and Information Studies, Coimbatore, participated in an industrial visit to the manufacturing facility of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited located in Bidadi, Karnataka on March 9, 2026. The visit was organized as part of the academic curriculum to provide students with practical exposure to real-world industrial operations and modern manufacturing practices in the automobile industry.
The program was coordinated by Ms. Sowmya, HR and Engagement Specialist at Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited. She welcomed the students and delivered an informative presentation about the company, its operations, and its role in the automobile sector.
During the session, Ms. Sowmya explained the production activities carried out at the plant and provided insights into the manufacturing process of various automobile models. She also discussed the collaboration between Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited and Maruti Suzuki India Limited, where certain vehicle models are jointly developed and manufactured. These collaborations allow companies to share technology, improve production efficiency, and strengthen their competitiveness in the automobile industry.

A major part of the session focused on the Toyota Production System, which is globally known for its efficiency and quality-focused approach. Students learned about important concepts such as lean manufacturing, continuous improvement (Kaizen), waste reduction, and Just-in-Time production. In addition, various management principles and operational practices used within the organization were explained, helping students connect their academic knowledge with real industrial applications.
After the presentation, the students were taken on a guided tour of the manufacturing facility. During the plant visit, they observed different stages of the automobile production process and gained an understanding of how advanced technology, efficient workflow systems, and skilled workers contribute to producing high-quality vehicles.
Overall, the industrial visit provided a valuable learning experience for the MBA students. It offered practical insights into large-scale automobile manufacturing and demonstrated how management concepts and production strategies are implemented effectively in the real industrial environment.
