Lionel Messi Sets Record as Fastest Player to Reach 900 Goals in Football History

Lionel Messi has created a historic milestone in football by becoming the fastest and youngest player to score 900 career goals.

The Argentine star reached the landmark in just 1,142 matches, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo, who achieved the same feat in 1,236 matches. Messi also reached the milestone at a younger age—38 years and 268 days—compared to Ronaldo’s 39 years and 213 days.

Messi, who currently plays for Inter Miami CF in the United States, achieved the record during a CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16 match against Nashville. He scored a fabulous goal in the 7th minute from a tight angle despite heavy defensive pressure. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Messi’s 900 goals are distributed across his career as follows:

  • Argentina: 115 goals

  • FC Barcelona: 672 goals

  • Paris Saint-Germain: 32 goals

  • Inter Miami: 81 goals

In the previous season, Messi delivered an outstanding performance, winning the Most Valuable Player award and the Golden Boot. He also led Inter Miami to their first-ever MLS title.

Fans and football legends across the world have congratulated Messi on this incredible achievement, further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest footballers of all time.

Messi joined Inter Miami in 2023 and is under contract with the club until 2028. He is also expected to consider retirement from international football after the upcoming World Cup, marking the final phase of his legendary career.
