CHOOSE AND READ and ROTARACT COIMBATORE COSMOS conduct BOOK HUNT
Choose and Read Library and Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Cosmos hosted a creative “Book Hunt” event, encouraging youth to explore books through clues and promoting reading culture in Coimbatore.
Choose and Read, Coimbatore’s well-known lending library with a legacy of 40 years, joined hands with the Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Cosmos to organize an offbeat literary event titled “Book Hunt” on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the Choose and Read Library.
The event challenged participants to search for clues hidden within books—without any digital aids. Teams were given a set of 12 literary clues, each leading them to specific books and authors in the library. The first team to successfully uncover all the answers by smartly browsing through the collection was declared the winner.
The clues took participants on a journey through works of renowned authors and famous titles. Hints such as “Dan Brown’s book that starts with D and ends with S,” Sudha Murthy’s book with the caption “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives,” a Tintin sequel to “Destination Moon,” and Agatha Christie’s “___ Among the ___” introduced teams to literary luminaries while testing their knowledge and speed.
After an hour of intense and exciting book hunting, Iniya and Shrinidhi from PSG College of Arts and Science emerged as winners, edging out other teams by just a few minutes. The winners received certificates and a free annual membership to the library, allowing them to read books free of cost for a year.
The event’s Chief Guest, Mr. Niyaz, CEO of Choose and Read Library, encouraged young people to make reading a regular habit, highlighting its lifelong benefits. He also shared that the library houses nearly 40,000 books and serves over 4,000 subscribers.
Rtr. Meyappan, District Chairperson – Rotary Rotaract Relations, appreciated the organizers and participants for promoting reading through a creative initiative. The event was coordinated by Rtr. Joshua, with Rtr. Sangeeth and Rtr. Sembiyan Maadevi hosting the programme.
Participants described the Book Hunt as engaging and refreshing, and expressed interest in taking part in more such innovative literary events in the future.
