The Indian rupee weakened by 14 paise to settle at ₹90.70 against the US dollar, pressured by increased demand for dollars from importers and ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Forex traders said the rupee traded with a negative bias amid global uncertainties and rising crude oil prices. In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at ₹90.56, slipped to an intraday low of ₹90.75, and later touched a high of ₹90.46 before finally closing at ₹90.70, registering a decline of 14 paise from the previous close.
On Tuesday, the rupee had ended on a positive note, gaining 10 paise to close at ₹90.56 against the dollar. The latest movement reflects continued volatility in currency markets influenced by global and domestic economic factors.
