Coimbatore won its first match of SS Rajan Trophy (Tamil Nadu Inter District T20 Trophy) against Sivagangai by 57 runs at the Palm Meadows Ground Tiruppur on Monday, December 15 2025
Sivagangai won the toss and invited Coimbatore to bat. Coimbatore began with a 89 run opening partnership in 10 overs between Hari Nishanth and Radhakrishnan. This was followed by a 60 run partnership for 2nd wicket between Hari Nishanth and Kousik. However Coimbatore faltered in the final five overs slumping from 147/1 in 15 to 183/6 in 20. Sivagangai pacer Mohammed Ithris took all those five wickets. However the star of the innings was Coimbatore captain Hari Nishanth whose 105 of 60 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes saw the team to a defendable total of 183.
Gowtham Thamarai Kannan struck two early blows that dented Sivagangai's spirits. Sivagangai tried to fight back but Coimbatore bowlers were in control. When Hari Nishanth bowled Velmurugan, Sivagangai at 69/4 in 11 overs did not look good to reverse the position. Selva Kumaran struck twice in the 16th over and Sivagangai could manage only 126/7 in 50 overs with their captain keeper Sudarshan top scoring with 50 of 51 balls.
