COIMBATORE unlocks a knock out spot with a comfortable win over Dindigul

Coimbatore secured a 37 run win over Dindigul in the knock out match of SS Rajan Trophy (Tamil Nadu Inter District 20) held on Tuesday, 23 December 2025 at PSGIMS A Ground. With this win, Coimbatore progresses into the last eight of the tournament.

Dindigul won the toss and put Coimbatore to bat. Vijay Abhimanyu and skipper Hari Nishanth started well and when Vijay was run out in the last ball of fourth over, Coimbatore looked good at 41. The in form batters Hari Nishanth and Ajitesh forged another quick partnership. The 10th over proved deadly for Coimbatore as Rajesh Kannan removed them both and had them at 89/3 at half way mark. Vignesh made the 12th over another 2 wicket over and suddenly Coimbatore looked in trouble at 97/5 in 12 overs. Sujay and Mithun batted with responsibility but both were removed in successive overs by Mohammed and Vignesh. The tail enders offered some resistance but eventually Coimbatore was bowled out for 146 in 19.5 overs. Rajesh Kannan and Vignesh both secured 3 wickets each for Dindigul.

Gowtham Thamarai Kannan removed Thamarai Selvan in the first ball of the innings to set the tone for Coimbatore's defense. Mohan Prasath removed Aashiq and Prakashraj in successive overs and Dindigul were struggling at 18/3 after 4 overs. Just when the partnership between Elayaraja and Kaleeswaran looked to be blossoming, Kousik removed the stumps of Kaleeswaran. Karthik Saran and Elayaraja kept going but Coimbatore had slowed down the scoring rate. In search of boundaries, both of them fell to Mithun and Saravana Kumar respectively. When captain Mohammed was run out, Dindigul were all but lost. Sachin struck a few shots but Saravana Kumar and Mohan Prasath kept getting wickets. On the last ball of the Dindigul innings, Sachin missed and Saravana Kumar hit and Coimbatore bowled out Dindigul 37 runs shy of their target. The bowling unit of Coimbatore ensured no qualms in defense of a moderate score. Saravana Kumar and Mohan Prasath with 3 wickets apiece heralded the bowling unit.
