CLEAN ENERGY - RISING TO THE CHALLENGE
IEI Coimbatore Local Centre and PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore
December 14 is observed as National Energy Conservation Day across India. To commemorate this occasion, the Institution of Engineers (India) – IEI Coimbatore Local Centre, in association with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, PSG College of Technology, organised a technical lecture on Monday, December 15, 2025, at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore.
The technical session was delivered by Er. A. D. Thirumoorthy, a well-known and experienced Energy Consultant, who gave a highly thought-provoking lecture on the importance of clean energy and the challenges ahead in achieving sustainable energy goals. He clearly explained the technical concepts behind clean energy systems and emphasized the urgent need for collective action to address climate and energy challenges.
Er. Thirumoorthy traced the evolution of clean energy, elaborated on the current global and Indian clean energy scenario, and projected the future outlook required from industries, institutions, and engineers. He also presented key insights and updates from the recently held COP30 Conference in Brazil, giving participants a global perspective on climate commitments and renewable energy initiatives.
The lecture was well received by the audience, comprising faculty members, engineers, and students. An interactive discussion followed, during which participants actively clarified their doubts and gained deeper understanding of clean energy technologies and policies.
The programme was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Dr. M. Senthil Kumar, Chairman, IEI Coimbatore Local Centre; Dr. A. Natarajan, Head of the Department of EEE, PSG College of Technology; Dr. R. Latha, Associate Professor, Department of EEE, PSG College of Technology; and Dr. J. Pradeep Kumar, Secretary, IEI Coimbatore Local Centre.
The event successfully highlighted the critical role of engineers and academic institutions in driving India’s transition towards a clean, sustainable, and energy-efficient future.
