Markram, Ngidi Shine as South Africa Beat Canada by 57 Runs
Aiden Markram’s half-century and Lungi Ngidi’s four-wicket haul powered South Africa to a 57-run win over Canada in the T20 World Cup.
South Africa secured a convincing 57-run victory over Canada in the 9th match of the ICC T20 World Cup on Monday, thanks to strong performances from captain Aiden Markram and pacer Lungi Ngidi.
After being put in to bat, South Africa posted a solid total of 213/4 in 20 overs. Markram led from the front with a brilliant 59 runs, supported by Ryan Rickelton (33). Later, David Miller (39*) and Tristan Stubbs (34*) provided a strong finish to the innings.
Chasing a daunting target of 214 runs, Canada managed 156/8 in 20 overs. Navneet Dhaliwal fought hard with a determined 64-run knock, while Harsh Thaker contributed 33 runs, but the team fell short against South Africa’s disciplined bowling attack.
Ngidi starred with the ball, picking up 4 wickets, while Marco Jansen took two wickets. Kagiso Rabada and Corbin Bosch chipped in with one wicket each to seal the victory for South Africa.
