According to reports, the exchange of gunfire occurred when security personnel confronted the militant during a search operation in a forested area known for Naxalite activity.
The militant who was killed had been on the police wanted list, and authorities had earlier announced a reward of ₹5 lakh for information leading to his capture.
Security forces had been actively searching for him for a long time due to his involvement in extremist activities. During the encounter, he was shot dead by the security personnel.
Following the incident, security forces have intensified combing operations in the surrounding areas to track down other possible militants and prevent further extremist activities.
