South Africa defeated India by 76 runs in the T20 World Cup Super 8 match in Ahmedabad. David Miller starred with 63, while Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj led the bowling attack.
South Africa registered a dominant 76-run victory over India in the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup in Ahmedabad.
After winning the toss, South Africa opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 187/7 in 20 overs.
Miller and Brevis Power South Africa
South Africa suffered early setbacks, losing Quinton de Kock (6), Aiden Markram (4), and Ryan Rickelton (7) with just 20 runs on the board. However, David Miller and Dewald Brevis steadied the innings with an aggressive counterattack.
Brevis scored 45 off 29 balls, including three fours and three sixes, before being dismissed by Shivam Dube. Miller continued the onslaught, smashing 63 off 35 balls with seven fours and three sixes. Tristan Stubbs added an unbeaten 44 off 24 balls, finishing strongly with two sixes in the final over.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah delivered an outstanding spell of 3/15 in four overs. Arshdeep Singh took two wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy and Shivam Dube claimed one each.
South African Bowlers Dominate India
Chasing 188, India collapsed to 111 all out in 18.5 overs.
Ishan Kishan was dismissed for a duck in the very first over bowled by Markram. Tilak Varma managed just one run, while Abhishek Sharma scored 15 off 12 balls before getting out. Washington Sundar (11) and captain Suryakumar Yadav (18) also failed to make significant contributions.
Shivam Dube (42 off 37) tried to anchor the innings, and along with Hardik Pandya (18), attempted to revive the chase. However, Keshav Maharaj turned the game decisively by picking up three wickets in a single over, dismissing Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh (0), and Arshdeep Singh (1).
Marco Jansen was the standout bowler for South Africa, taking four wickets, while Maharaj claimed three. Corbin Bosch picked up two wickets and Markram took one.
David Miller was named Player of the Match for his match-winning half-century.
