India A successfully defended their ACC Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars title by defeating Bangladesh A by 46 runs in the final held at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok, Thailand, on Sunday.
Led by Radha Yadav, India A defended a modest target of 135 runs by bowling Bangladesh A out for 88 in 19.1 overs, securing their second Rising Stars title in consecutive editions of the tournament.
Tejal Hasabnis was the standout performer with the bat, scoring a crucial 51 off 34 balls, including three fours and two sixes. She displayed remarkable composure and skill, striking at 150, and played a decisive role in rescuing her team from early trouble.
Hasabnis shared a vital 69-run partnership for the fifth wicket with skipper Radha Yadav, helping India stabilize after losing quick wickets in the beginning. Bangladesh A captain Fahim Khatun took four wickets to keep her team in the contest, with strong support from the spinners.
In response, Bangladesh A struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack. Only Shamima Sultana managed to cross the 20-run mark, while the rest of the batting lineup failed to build momentum. Bangladesh lost their first wicket for just 12 runs and never recovered in the chase.
Prema starred with the ball for India A, taking three wickets for 12 runs. Sonia Mendhiya and Tanuja Kanwer also impressed, picking up two wickets each and providing excellent support.
This marked the second consecutive runner-up finish for Bangladesh A, who had earlier lost to India A by 31 runs in the inaugural edition in 2023.
