Tamil Literary Renaissance Day commemorated at Sankara Polytechnic College

On the occassion of the Tamil Literary Renaissance Day, Sankara Polytechnic College organised various competitions for school students in a wonderful manner. The birth anniversary of UV Swaminatha Iyer fondly called as Tamil Thatha is being observed as Tamil Literary Renaissance Day in order to recognise his immense contributions to preserving Tamil literature. On his 171th birth anniversary, Thursday 19 February 2026, The Tamil Mandram of Sankara Polytechnic college organised a grand inter school event that saw the participation of more than 400 students from about 25 schools.
Dr.R.Manimekalai, Head of the Department, Department of Tamil Kongunadu Arts and Science College graced the occassion as the Chief Guest and spoke about the literary wealth of Tamil language. She persuaded the students to put more efforts to feel the vibe of Tamil literature. Mr. A. Balasubramanian, Principal, Sankara Polytechnic College delivered the welcome address. Mr. T.P. Ramachandran, Managing Trustee and Secretary of Sankara Educational Institutions presided over the event. The event was guided by Mr.T.V.Pattabiraman, Trustee, Sankara Educational Institutions and Mrs. Nithya Ramachandran, Deputy Joint Secretary. Prof. Chitra, Department of Tamil delivered the vote of thanks.
Sankara Polytechnic College was well appreciated for planning and organising this event which showcased the heritage of Tamil and the talent of the young school students.
