Energy Conservation Club inaugurated at CIET
Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology inaugurated the Energy Conservation Club Inauguration on Thursday, 12 February 2026 at the college seminar Hall. The club has been inaugurated with an aim to create awareness about energy saving and encourage students to follow eco-friendly practices for a sustainable future. Ms. M.Dharunya, III B.E., EEE was installed as the President of the club under the counsellorship of Prof. R. Karthigayini AP/EEE. Prof.A.Thiyagarajan was chosen to be the Advisor of the club.
The club was inaugurated by Dr. K.M. Subramaniam, Retired Superintending Engineer from TANGEDCO and Founder & CEO, ECO LIFE Solar Industries. After the inauguration, he aptly delivered a seminar titled “Smart Innovation for Energy Conservation at Home and Beyond”. He explained simple and pragmatic ways to save electricity at home which were well received by the students. He went on to substantiate the use of renewable energy and the role of students in protecting the environment. The students interacted well with Dr.K.M.Subramaniam who patiently responded to all the queries regarding energy saving and sustainability.
Dr.K.Manikanda Subramanian, Principal, Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology delivered a special address on the ocassion. He congratulated the club and asked them to ensure that there is a strong conversation for stronger conservation. He elucidated that energy conserved is energy gained and it would go a long way in our energy management.
The event was conducted in the presence of Dr. Gokul Shanmugan, Head of the Department, Department of EEE. The event was supported by the Industry Innovation Council, Institution of Engineers and Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The inauguration was attended by faculty members and students of the institution.
