Thirumavalavan Says Seat-Sharing Pressure Rising in DMK Alliance
VCK leader Thirumavalavan states that pressure has increased in DMK alliance seat-sharing due to new parties joining ahead of Tamil Nadu elections.
Thol. Thirumavalavan, head of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, has said that there is increasing pressure in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam alliance regarding seat-sharing arrangements.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Thirumavalavan stated that the exact number of seats allotted to VCK will be known within the next few days. He indicated that the party may have to contest in a limited number of constituencies.
He explained that the entry of new parties into the DMK-led alliance has created additional pressure to reduce the number of seats allocated to existing partners. Describing it as a “mega alliance,” he said that while DMK is trying to accommodate all parties, allies like VCK will also have to make compromises.
Despite some delay in finalizing the seat-sharing agreement, he expressed confidence that a smooth and amicable solution would be reached soon. He emphasized that along with party interests, the unity and success of the alliance are equally important.
Responding to questions about Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s visit to Delhi, Thirumavalavan remarked that earlier leaders used to visit Tamil Nadu, but now AIADMK leaders are going to Delhi to meet Amit Shah and Narendra Modi.
He further commented that the way the Bharatiya Janata Party is handling AIADMK appears to be a setback for the party. However, he added that it is their internal matter, while also advising that AIADMK should continue to uphold its social justice principles and lead its alliance independently.
