PM Narendra Modi Becomes Longest-Serving Government Leader in India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi sets a record by becoming the longest-serving government leader in India, surpassing former Sikkim CM Pawan Kumar Chamling.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a major milestone by becoming the longest-serving government leader in India. Combining his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister, he has held office for a total of 8,931 days, setting a new record.
He has surpassed the previous record held by Pawan Kumar Chamling, who served as Sikkim’s Chief Minister for 8,930 days. With this, Modi has etched his name in history as the leader with the longest continuous tenure in government roles in the country.
Narendra Modi, who assumed office as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001, later went on to become India’s Prime Minister after winning the 2014 general elections. He secured consecutive victories in the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, continuing his leadership for a third term.
He is also notable for being the first Prime Minister of India born after independence. In October last year, Modi marked his 25th year in public office and expressed gratitude to the people for their continued support.
Reflecting on his journey, he shared that his guiding principle has always been to serve the poor, inspired by his mother’s advice. He also highlighted that over 250 million people have been lifted out of poverty in the past decade and emphasized that serving the nation remains his greatest honor.
