Ireland registered a commanding 96-run victory over Oman in the T20 World Cup, marking their first win of the tournament in emphatic fashion.
In the match held in Colombo, Oman captain Jatinder Singh won the toss and chose to bowl first. Batting first, Ireland posted a massive total of 235/5 in 20 overs.
Ireland captain Lorcan Tucker led from the front with a brilliant unbeaten knock of 94 off 51 balls. Gareth Delany scored a quick half-century off 30 balls, while George Dockrell added a rapid 35 off just 9 balls to boost the team’s total.
Chasing 236, Oman were bowled out for 139 in 18 overs. Opener Aamir Kaleem top-scored for Oman with 50 runs.
For Ireland, Joshua Little picked up three wickets, while Matthew Humphreys and McCarthy claimed two wickets each with the ball.
