₹1.50 Crore Penalty on Vijay Upheld by High Court
The Madras High Court has upheld the ₹1.50 crore penalty imposed on actor Vijay by the Income Tax Department over undisclosed ₹15 crore remuneration from the film Puli.
The Madras High Court has upheld the ₹1.50 crore penalty imposed on actor Vijay by the Income Tax Department.
The penalty was originally levied after authorities alleged that ₹15 crore of the remuneration received by Vijay for the film Puli had not been properly disclosed in his income records. Challenging the penalty, the actor had filed a case in court.
However, in its order delivered today, the High Court ruled that the penalty imposed on Vijay is valid, effectively dismissing his challenge.
The decision marks a significant development in the long-running tax dispute involving the actor and the Income Tax Department.
