Sensex, Nifty Extend Gains for Third Day on Banking and FMCG Buying
Indian stock markets closed higher for the third consecutive session, with Sensex rising 283 points and Nifty nearing 25,820, supported by gains in banking, metal, and FMCG stocks.
Indian stock markets ended higher for the third straight session, driven by late buying in banking, metal, and FMCG stocks.
The BSE Sensex climbed 283.29 points to close at 83,734.25, while the Nifty 50 gained 93.95 points to settle at 25,819.35.
Most sectoral indices ended in positive territory except IT. Metal, FMCG, and PSU banking indices rose around 1%, while private banks, real estate, auto, and oil & gas gained about 0.5%.
In broader markets, several stocks touched fresh 52-week highs, though nearly 100 stocks hit 52-week lows. Global Brent crude edged up 0.33% to $67.64 per barrel.
