CRIC scores nearly 1000 GREEN BUILD RUNS at Coimbatore

The Coimbatore Region Construction and Real Estate Industry Confederation (CRIC) organized a Climate Change and Green Building Awareness Marathon titled “GREEN BUILD RUN” at the Coimbatore Race Course on 8th February at 5:30 AM.

The objective of the Marathon was to generate more awareness among Green Buildings and Climate Change among the near and dear of the construction industry and the general public. 

Approximately 1,000 members enthusiastically participated in the event, demonstrating strong support for environmental awareness and sustainable development.

The marathon was formally flagged off by District Collector Mr. Pavan Kumar G. Giriyappanavar, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Mr. Sivaguru Prabhakaran, and CRIC State President Mr. Pon Kumar.

The event featured two categories namely 5 Kilometer Marathon (for men and women above 18 years) and 2.5 Kilometer Marathon (for boys and girls below 18 years)

All participants were provided with T-shirts, caps, certificates, and medals in appreciation of their participation. They were also presented a pamphlet on Green Buildings.

During the prize distribution ceremony, District Collector Mr. Pavan Kumar G. Giriyappanavar and Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Mr. Sivaguru Prabhakaran honored the winners. 

Cash prizes and trophies were awarded to the first three winners in the following four categories:

Men (Above 18 years)

Women (Above 18 years)

Boys (Below 18 years)

Girls (Below 18 years)

The event was coordinated by Dr. P. Magudeaswaran, Event Coordinator, and the overall arrangements were organized and led by State Joint Secretary Mr. Rajadurai.The vote of thanks was delivered by Regional Secretary Mr. Balakrishnan

The program was attended by several distinguished guests and industry leaders, including Mr. Vishwanathan, Former BAI President, Dr GS Venkatasubramaniam, Co Chairperson, National Green Building Council, Er.P.Parameswaran, Chairman, Association of Consulting Civil Engineers, Er.Palanichamy, President, 
Coimbatore Zone Civil Engineers Association (COZCENA), Er.Pasumai Vijayakumar, President, 
Sulur Civil Engineers Association, Mr.Yuvaraj, 
CRIC State Secretary, Mr. Jegatheesan, CRIC State Treasurer, and Mr.Thirumalai Ravi, President, Grill Manufacturers Association, to name a few.

Dr.P.Magudeswaran mentioned that the journey towards green buildings and  adapting to climate change is a long one. He mentioned that CRIC would ensure that the construction industry takes the lead in awareness and action that would initiate and invigorate the journey to sustainability.
