Delhi to Host Asian Shooting Championship Next Year
Delhi will host the Asian Shooting Championship and the World Cup Shooting Competition in 2027, offering athletes a chance to secure Olympic quota places for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The World Cup Shooting Competition (Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun) will be held at the Karnising Shooting Range in New Delhi from April 21 to April 30, 2027. This prestigious event will serve as a qualification tournament for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Athletes who perform well at the World Cup will be able to secure up to 12 quota places for the Olympic shooting events. These quota spots are crucial for shooters aiming to represent their countries on the world’s biggest sporting stage.
In another major development, the National Rifle Association of India has been awarded the hosting rights for the Asian Shooting Championship (Rifle and Pistol) by the Asian Shooting Confederation. This championship will also act as a qualifying event for the Los Angeles Olympics.
At the Asian Shooting Championship, shooters who meet the required performance standards can claim up to eight Olympic quota places. With both international events being held in India, athletes competing on home soil will have the opportunity to secure a total of 20 Olympic quota spots, boosting India’s prospects for strong representation at the 2028 Olympics.
