British actor Damson Idris has been named Formula 1’s Global Brand Ambassador following his role in F1: The Movie, aiming to help expand the sport’s global reach and connect with new fans worldwide.

Formula 1 has officially appointed British actor Damson Idris as its Global Brand Ambassador, strengthening the momentum of the recently launched “All To Drive For” campaign.
The appointment follows Idris’ standout performance in F1: The Movie, where he portrayed rookie driver Joshua Pearce. The film was uniquely shot during real Grand Prix weekends, giving Idris rare behind-the-scenes access to Formula 1 teams and race operations, adding authenticity to his role.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali praised Idris, stating that the actor shares the sport’s long-term vision for growth and brings genuine passion and credibility that can help expand Formula 1’s global influence.
Speaking about his new role, Idris said being part of Formula 1 allows him to blend culture, performance, and precision. He also expressed excitement about representing the sport and engaging with fans across the world.
As Global Brand Ambassador, Damson Idris will attend selected Grands Prix and take part in promotional campaigns, partner events, and exclusive content initiatives designed to attract new audiences as Formula 1 continues its rapid global expansion.
