Australia’s star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is expected to retire from T20 internationals after the ongoing T20 World Cup, according to opinions expressed by former players.

His final international T20 appearance is likely to be on Friday (February 20), when Australia plays its last match of the tournament against Oman.

Australia were eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2026 at the league stage after winning only one of their three matches. The team will now play their final game of the tournament against Oman.

Glenn Maxwell, aged 37, has scored 2,897 runs in 129 international T20 matches, with a highest score of 145*. He had already retired from One Day Internationals eight months ago and is now expected to step away from T20 internationals after this World Cup.

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has also shared the same view regarding Maxwell’s possible retirement.
