Seminar on AR & VR organised by IE(I) at PSG Polytechnic

IE(I) Coimbatore Local Centre along with the Department of Computer Networking, PSG Polytechnic College organised an All India Seminar on "AI powered Augmented Reality(AR) and Virtual Reality(VR) Technologies” at PSG Polytechnic College on 07 and 08 January 2026. The seminar was organised under the aegis of National Language Promotion Committee (NLPC), Institution of Engineers(India). 

The seminar was inaugurated on morning of Wednesday, 07 January 2026. Mr.T.Gift Selvin, Director, Maxbyte Technologies Services Private Limited, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest for the inauguration. Dr.M.Senthil Kumar, Chairperson, IE(I) Coimbatore Local Centre presided the inaugural ceremony. While Dr S Brindha, HoD presented the outline of the seminar, Dr.B.Giriraj, Principal, PSG Polytechnic offered his felicitations and insights. Dr.J.Pradeep Kumar, Honorary Secretary, IE(I), Coimbatore Local Centre offered thanks giving address. 

The two day seminar encompassed six technical lectures related to AR & VR ranging from introduction to AI powered AR & VR its applications in health care, how AR & VR enhances gaming & entertainment, ethical & social issues related to AR & VR, collaborative scope for AR & VR, impact of AR & VR on data security. All the six lectures were presented by industry experts who seamlessly blent theoretical knowledge with practical issues. The students were engaged in presentation of technical papers related to AI powered AR and VR which enhanced their knowledge about the emerging area.

The most interesting facet of the seminar was the presentation of seminar in both English and Tamil, as it was an NLPC initiative to boost technical education in regional languages. Nearly 100 students participated and got benefitted by the seminar. The students found the seminar very enriching as it opened a gateway for them to the emerging technology with the familiarity of Tamil.
