Surya Kumar Yadav Backs Abhishek Sharma, Dismisses Concerns Over His Form

India captain Suryakumar Yadav has expressed confidence in opener Abhishek Sharma, saying he is more concerned about those who are worried about the batter’s form rather than the player himself.

With the league stage of the ICC T20 World Cup completed, the Super 8 round began on February 21. The first Super 8 match is being played between New Zealand and Pakistan at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, while India will face South Africa in their opening Super 8 match on February 22.

Speaking about Abhishek Sharma’s form, Suryakumar responded in a light-hearted manner, saying he feels worried for those who are concerned about Abhishek’s form. He added that Abhishek played a crucial role last year and helped the team with his aggressive batting, and it is now the team’s responsibility to support him.

Suryakumar noted that Abhishek is yet to open his run account in the ongoing World Cup, but once he gets going, everyone knows the impact he can create. He emphasized that the team does not want Abhishek to lose his aggressive style of play, as it is vital for the team’s success.

He further said that even if Abhishek gets out while playing aggressively, the team has enough depth in the batting order to score runs. Notably, Abhishek Sharma has been dismissed for ducks in all three matches he has played so far in the current World Cup.
