Samra’s Century in Vain as New Zealand Seal Comfortable Victory
New Zealand defeated Canada by 8 wickets in the T20 World Cup after brilliant half-centuries from Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra, chasing down 174 with ease.
The 10th T20 World Cup is being held in India and Sri Lanka. In the 31st match played in Chennai today, Canada faced New Zealand. Canada captain Dilpreet Bajwa won the toss and chose to bat first.
Canada got off to an aggressive start, with their batters scoring freely from the beginning. Yuvraj Samra played a brilliant innings, smashing boundaries and sixes to score a superb century. At the end of 20 overs, Canada posted 173/4.
Chasing a target of 174, New Zealand began steadily. Seifert scored 6 runs and Finn Allen made 21 before getting out. Later, Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips played explosive innings, dominating the Canadian bowling attack. Both batters scored impressive half-centuries.
New Zealand reached 176/2 in just 14 overs, winning the match by 8 wickets. Glenn Phillips scored 76 runs, while Rachin Ravindra remained unbeaten on 59, guiding their team to a comfortable victory.
